Topic Description
Toxic masculinity refers to a set of harmful beliefs and behaviours associated with some stereotypes of masculinity. These beliefs and behaviours promote the idea that “good/successful” men should always be dominant, aggressive, and emotionally detached. In this talk, we will explore the concept of toxic masculinity and its impact on men’s mental and physical health. We’ll examine the specific behaviours and beliefs associated with toxic masculinity and how they can lead to negative outcomes for both men and those around them. By understanding the harms of toxic masculinity, we can begin to challenge the more harmful norms and promote healthier options for understanding masculinity.
